A sumptuous blend of chocolate and rich black tea.

A golden black tea from Nepal with pure cacao nibs from the Democratic Republic of Congo. Both sustainably and organically farmed by smallholder farmers, supporting both the people in their communities and natural ecosystems.

Tasting Notes

This tea has two distinct profiles - enjoyed with and without milk. Infused at a lower temperature and served without milk - enjoy warm comforting notes of chocolate digestive biscuits (or chocolate chip cookies for our American customers) - with a wonderful hit of morello cherry and raspberry. Infused in boiling water and served with milk - the fruit notes are more subtle - replaced with a warm aroma of freshly baked bread, dark honey and rich notes of hazelnut spread.

Origin

Ilam, Nepal
Virunga Park, Democratic Republic of the Congo

Cost Per Cup

€0,54 per cup based on 3g of tea per 150ml of water and 2 infusions.

This incredible black tea comes from a group of smallholder farmers in the Himalayan foothills of Ilam, Nepal.

Tinjure Tea Cooperative grows tea under organic principles, harvesting and expertly crafting tea with the most exquisite flavour, unique to this mountain terroir.

Most smallholder farmers are often reliant on selling their fresh leaf to tea factories, who process the tea and take the lion's share of the value.

At Tinjure, both the tea production house and land are owned by the farmers. By crafting their own leaf, they create unique tea of high value with true provenance and traceability. Tinjure farmers also retain the true value.

Virunga, Democratic Republic of the Congo

At the edge of Virunga, Africa’s oldest national park, grows one of the world’s rarest and most flavourful cocoas: the original Amelonado variety.

Cultivated by smallholder farmers, this cacao is grown using regenerative agroforestry practices that support both people and nature.

Every product made with Original Beans Virunga couverture helps protect this exceptional cacao and the forest it calls home.

Through the One4One Trees programme, more than 1.5 million trees have been grown and protected since 2016, strengthening farmers’ livelihoods and creating vital habitat for Virunga’s mountain gorillas.

Organic agroforestry makes our Virunga chocolate regenerative by design, without relying on additional carbon offsets or certificates.
