A more delicate flavour than a modern Breakfast tea, it has soft florals balanced by smooth, malty notes.

Recommended Infusion Guide

  • Quantity

    Use 2.5g of tea per 150ml of water.

  • Temperature

    For the optimum infusion use 85°C water. If you enjoy your tea with milk, please use water at 100°C.

  • Time

    Infuse for 1 - 2 minutes, tasting regularly.

  • Infusions

    You can infuse this tea at least twice. With each careful infusion, different subtleties of flavour are revealed.

How to infuse your tea is very personal, and these are just our recommendations based on experience. Please experiment with these variables to your heart's delight. These are our recommendations, not hard and fast rules. The most delicious tea is the one you love.

Our guide uses a standard tea cup size (150ml/5.5 oz) as a measure, please adjust the quantity of leaf accordingly for less or more water. Our whole loose leaves are of such a high quality that you can infuse our teas at least twice, and the second infusion is often better than the first, with different flavours revealed as the leaf softens. If you prefer your tea stronger, add more leaf, don’t leave it for longer (this will just make it bitter).

"It was a great honour and pleasure to meet him when I made this short film about tea and the RAF. It was an even greater honour to make tea for him.

Tea

First sip - "it's "tea""... Second sip - "oooo - Ah - there is something going on here?" Third sip - "there it is again! that was NICE!" Fourth sip - "this is REALLY GOOD!!! I like this !!! I shall return for some more of this ! So: a surprisingly good brew. Well after drinking that I actually feel the need to head out into the world + find plenty heroic stuff to do ! Cheery-bie x

Flies on its own two wings!

This blend was very flavorful (was it just me or was it a little bit smoky?) and while it tastes great with milk it can stand - or fly - on its own. Very strong but without the tannins. I was first attracted to the story behind it and fell in love with Terry Clark. Buying the tea was the natural result and I love it now for its own sake!

A taste sensation!

Having received a tin of RAFA Tea for Heros as a gift I was curious to try it. From the very first cup I was hooked. Like breakfast tea but softer, lighter, more refreshing. I am now fully converted and as well as buying RAFA tea in bulk have subscribed to receive other loose leaf teas. Some people become explire gin, others wine, for me, my new passion is loose leaf teas and the amazing variety and tastes.

The best tea ever …

I started to buy Rare Tea after having it in a restaurant in London. I love the taste and the whole story behind the Rare Tea. I don’t like strong tea, but this has a wonderful flavour without being over powering. You will not be disappointed 😀
