A taste sensation!

Having received a tin of RAFA Tea for Heros as a gift I was curious to try it. From the very first cup I was hooked. Like breakfast tea but softer, lighter, more refreshing. I am now fully converted and as well as buying RAFA tea in bulk have subscribed to receive other loose leaf teas. Some people become explire gin, others wine, for me, my new passion is loose leaf teas and the amazing variety and tastes.

The best tea ever …

I started to buy Rare Tea after having it in a restaurant in London. I love the taste and the whole story behind the Rare Tea. I don’t like strong tea, but this has a wonderful flavour without being over powering. You will not be disappointed

Good but: (a) we found you must follow the guidelines for Infusing Your Tea on the included blue paper. Then the flavour and bouquet are as described. Longer brewing detracts. The second brewing without milk is pleasant indeed. (b) it is a little pricey compared with e.g Dragonfly teas at £5 for 50g from Waitrose, especially with postage. In that regard, it is disappointing that only 50p goes to the RAF charity. (c) the slightly wide Dragonfly tin is easier to access - OK it takes up more shelf space.

Tasting Notes

A more delicate flavour than a modern Breakfast tea, it has soft florals balanced by smooth, malty notes.

Use 2.5g of tea per 150ml of water.

For the optimum infusion use 85°C (185°F) water. If you enjoy your tea with milk, please use water at 100°C (212°F).

Infuse for 1 - 2 minutes, tasting regularly.

You can infuse this tea at least twice. With each careful infusion, different subtleties of flavour are revealed.

Cost Per Cup

15p per cup based on 2.5g of tea per 150ml of water and 2 infusions.
