This tastes like biscuits. It's so smooth and delicious. Really nice towards the end of the day if you fancy something a bit rich and malty. Easily one of my favourite english breakfast teas. Will make sure I always have some of this in the cupboard.

Lost Malawi single estate breakfast tea

Love this tea! Rich and malty - just how I like it. I drink it with milk and the second cup is as good as the first. Has delicious sweetness to it, in a good way. Love the ethical values of the Raretea company!

Delicious! Single Estate Lost Malawi English Breakfast

I have tried English Breakfast tea from many purveyors and in many restaurants, both loose leaf and teabag, and I have never found the one that turned my head… until now. This is my first time tasting a single estate English Breakfast, and it is everything I was looking for. The malt and caramel notes are rich, lush, and comforting, and the liquor is beautiful. This tea is delicious!

Single Estate Lost Malawi English Breakfast

I adore this tea. Started drinking it last year and have not looked back. It reminds me of the African planes and tea I once had on Safari at an private game estate. Simply the best! I really love the principles driving The Rare Tea Company and will certainly continue buying tea from here. I also love the fact that Lost Malawi can be bough in bulk. Happy coustomer

Not as flavorful

I love strong tea, so this was not as dark and flavorful as I would have liked it, certainly in the amount as was recommended.

Tasting Notes

Deep, rich and malty, it has notes of caramel and burnt sugar. Delicious black, becoming sweet and chocolatey with the addition of milk.

Use 2.5g of tea per 150ml of water.

For the optimum infusion use 85°C (185°F) water.  If you like milk, please use water at 100°C (212°F).

Infuse for 1 - 2 minutes, tasting regularly.

You can infuse this tea at least twice. With each careful infusion, different subtleties of flavour are revealed.

Cost Per Cup

16p per cup based on 2.5g of tea per 150ml of water and 2 infusions.

The Satemwa Tea Estate

Grown and lovingly made on a farm called Satemwa on Thyolo Mountain in the Shire Highlands of Malawi. Satemwa is the oldest tea estate in Malawi, still run by the same family - Alex is the 3rd generation Kay to look after the garden.
