This native herb is cut by hand at approximately 5cm from the ground. The stems and leaves are all used to make the tea. Skilled men and women harvest the honeybush from amongst companion plants of the area- know as fynbos.

Although all the honey bush has been planted, it is not a monocrop - the natural fynbos plants are encouraged to flourish in harmony. This means that these harvesters need to identify the honeybush tea between dozens of other fynbos plants and that grow symbiotically.
