Black tea is not fermented. This is a very common mistake often repeated about black tea production. It stems from a simple translation error: oxidisation was misunderstood to mean fermentation. This mistake was repeated so often that it has become an extremely common description of black tea crafting.
The only tea that undergoes fermentation is puerh tea - a separate category of tea.
