A rare English peppermint grown on the private botanical garden of the Tregothnan Estate.  This truly remarkable and unique peppermint is a wonderful end to a meal.

This peppermint is grown in Cornwall on the Tregothnan estate which has remained in the same family since 1335. It is one of the very last English mints in production. Cheaper, industrial imports have dominated the market but they are not a patch on the flavour.  Head gardener Jonathon Jones has selected cultivars that perform best in their unique Cornish microclimate.

Tasting Notes

Counter-intuitively, the menthol oils infuse more easily from the dried leaf, giving a brighter, cleaner flavour than fresh mint.

Origin & Craft

The belief in doing things well has persevered at Tregothnan; the Estate has stayed within the same family since 1335.

At the heart of the Estate is the private walled Botanic Garden. Tregothnan is passionate about growing and collecting plants, including many rare specimens.

Quantity

It is quite strong and you really only need a tiny pinch for a robust flavour. We recommend 0.5g per 150ml of water.

Temperature

For the optimum infusion use 100°C (212°F) water.

Time

Infuse for 30 - 60 seconds, tasting regularly.
