More infusion tips
How to infuse your tea is very personal, and these are just our recommendations based on experience. Please experiment with these variables to your heart's delight. These are our recommendations, not hard and fast rules. The most delicious tea is the one you love.
Our guide uses a standard tea cup size (150ml/5.5 oz) as a measure, please adjust the quantity of leaf accordingly for less or more water. Our whole loose leaves are of such a high quality that you can infuse our teas at least twice, and the second infusion is often better than the first, with different flavours revealed as the leaf softens. If you prefer your tea stronger, add more leaf, donβt leave it for longer (this will just make it bitter).

The Tinjure Tea Cooperative
This succulent green tea comes from a brilliant group of farmers high in Himalayan mountains of Nepal.
They belong to the Tinjure Tea Cooperative - named after their 3 hills (Tin means βthreeβ and jure means βhillsβ). The cooperative is made up of farmers from these three hilltop villages (Phakphok, Ekatappa, and Chamaita).
The tea gardens are situated at around 1700-2200 meters above sea level, and all the teas are grown under organic farming principles; the cooperative holds organic certification.

Tinjure was one of the first tea co-ops to be created in Nepal back in 1995. It was founded by 46 locals (2 of whom were women).
Together they accomplished something truly remarkable - they founded their own factory in 2013. Most small holder farmers are reliant on selling their fresh leaf to tea factories, usually owned by vast international corporations who process their leaf into finished tea - and take the lion's share of the value.
Tinjure is unique with the factory and land being owned by the farmers - the management committee is selected by the farmers through an annual general meeting.

Today there are 238 households making up the cooperative.
With the ability to craft their own tea, Tinjure not only creates unique tea of high value with real provenance and traceability - they are able to retain that value. We buy direct from the cooperative at the price they ask - so they do not have to lose any of the value through processors, middle men or brokers.
