Among the Best

I was fortunate enough to snag some of this black tea for free with a larger order. I’m ashamed to admit that I may have overlooked it otherwise, as my black tea tastes typically hail from India. I steeped an overnight cold infusion and in the morning was met with such delicious aromas and flavors, it gave me pause. Redolent with rich honey and malt, this Waikato is certainly among the best black teas I’ve ever had.

A new favorite

Being a relative tea novice, I can’t describe Waikato’s taste (I.e. earthy with hints of...) but I can tell you it is my new favorite black tea. While having a pretentious afternoon tea at London’s posh Claridge’s Reading Room, Waikato was one of the teas on the menu. The menu’s description of Waikato resonated and by sheer dumb luck I tried it. I liked it instantly. Although attempted another tea that afternoon, I immediately went back to Waikato—there being no comparison to my palate. I left Claridge’s determined to find Waikato black tea to enjoy at home. Fortunately I found it here at Rare Tea Co. otherwise my enjoyment of Waikato black tea would be limited to afternoon tea at Claridge’s.

One of my must-haves

This tea embodies the makes-everything-better properties that one looks for in a good cup. I make sure I always have this on hand because I would be very sad without the toasty, almost chocolate-y notes in my life. Highly recommend!

Delicious tea

Expensive but very delicious! I've bought this twice now. It's great as a special treat when you really want to savour your tea. Bear in mind that you can use the same tea leaves to make multiple cups of tea and just when you think they've really 'had it', use them again with your regular builders brew to add a certain something.

Better than desert. Chocolate on toast. A new late morning habit. Thank you.
