Longjing Tea

Longjng tea is one of the world's great teas. I first drank it in China and was delighted when the Rare Tea Company added it to their list. The Rare Tea Longjing is as good as the one I tasted in China. Highly recommended.

My new fave green tea

If you don’t think you like green tea this will convince you otherwise. I’ve tried a couple green teas from Rare Tea Co, including the regular Lonjing, but this is my fave one. Smooth, light, fresh with depth and nuance of flavour - and no bitterness. Also, shout out to the Customer Service team who were excellent in helping me out when my first order of this was lost by my country’s Post/Customs.

Tasting Notes

The most beautifully balanced expression of this complex Chinese green tea. Extremely bright and vibrant with a satisfying creamy smoothness.

Quantity

Use 3g of tea per 150ml of water.

Temperature

For the optimum infusion use 80°C (176°F) water.

Time

Infuse for around 60 seconds, tasting regularly.

Infusions

You can infuse this tea at least three times. With each careful infusion, different subtleties of flavour are revealed.

Cost Per Cup

48p per cup based on 3g of tea per 150ml of water and 3 infusions.

Very Rare Longjing is best brewed hotter and quicker than other green teas. The wonderful thing about loose leaf green tea, as with all our teas, is that you have a great deal of flexibility when it comes to extracting the tea in different ways. You can vary the amount of tea you use for different infusion methods. For really stunning results use 3g of tea in a Gaiwan and enjoy four or five smaller, quicker extractions (approx. 20 - 30 seconds each).
